Bookings are open this week for both our 11+ Kent Test clubs for next year, and our year 4 English and Maths booster clubs. Under our Griffin Teaching brand (in Hadlow and Kings Hill, Kent), we run affordable clubs for a maximum of six children at a time. All our children are well-taught, confident and exam-ready.
Griffin Teaching Timetable 2016-17
Griffin Teaching was founded more than five years ago by Hayley Hobbs, and Hayley oversees every detail of each club session, creating all the long-, mid- and short-term lesson plans, writing the reports for every class, and providing specific individual feedback to parents when required, either via email, on the phone or over a coffee. Click here for her professional qualifications and experience.
From the outset, Hayley has taught alongside Deborah Fury, and now we are delighted to have persuaded Charlotte Wetton to join us for the 2016/17 academic year. We also have two excellent cover teachers, Alison Holmes and Guy Macdonald. All our teachers care very much about each of our pupils, and they are qualified, inspiring, experienced and Enhanced CRB checked.
Deborah has a degree in English and German (Hons), an MA and a PGCE from the University of London. She is a wonderful, experienced teacher, having taught in Putney before moving to Kent. She has been through the 11+ process twice as a parent, with two of her three daughters attending local grammar schools. She has a detailed knowledge of the secondary transfer process and of the old and the new Kent Test.
Charlotte has taught for 13 years at a local grammar school. Ofsted described her as an ‘outstanding teacher’ and she has a BSc (Hons) from Sheffield University and a PGCE from Canterbury University. She is on a break from full-time teaching because she has two young children at home. Charlotte has a brilliant, upbeat attitude to club teaching, a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of the exam.
Every week all clubs cover exactly the same content in exactly the same way. Post lessons, we all feedback details of how each element went and the following week’s planning is tweaked to accommodate any changes. If your child struggles with a particular aspect of the work, or a small gap is exposed in their learning, we will be in touch via email that week, with a plan to get it all fixed. If you call or email anytime with a question or concern we are happy to give detailed feedback. Formal reports come out at the end of each academic term.
In addition to our club programme we run Extra Exam Sessions from the February half term. These pre-mock and mock exams are matched closely to the format of the real Kent Test in September. The timetable will be emailed out in January 2017.
We look forward to welcoming your child to our warm, friendly sessions where we teach exam technique and all content, whilst building academic confidence. For more information or just to keep in touch, like our brand new Facebook page.
