What educational options are available for my child at this stage?
Nursery schools – these are sometimes run by the state and sometimes run privately. Nursery classrooms are sometimes attached to state primary schools and are a good choice if you are planning to send your child to that school. Independent nurseries are privately run and sometimes linked to a particular private prep school. These charge fees and are not funded by the government. Montessori nurseries are privately run, based on the philosophy of Maria Montessori, a 20th century educationalist. These charge fees and are not funded by the government. Day-care nurseries are privately run for working parents, designed to be open longer each day, sometimes at weekends, and to remain open through holiday periods. These charge fees and are not funded by the government.
